The
is a social club for writers, artists, video artists and other degenerates. Each month we have a Symposium post for one topic. The topic for February is BUSES.It’s a topic I kind of love. I grew up taking the bus, or other form of public transit, in Portland, Oregon. My early twenties saw a lot of mileage on the Greyhound. For today, I’m reposting two sonnets that have to do with buses. I’d have found time to write a third one anew, but I’ve been working on some essays for a post for the STSC and an introductory note for an upcoming chapbook. More on that later. For now, enjoy the two sonnets below.
I love "rim shot the red light" -- which could serve as a descriptor of my basic style of driving. And the first sonnet here perfectly describes an inner and outer landscape I know so well. I feel as though I'm a co-celebrant of it with James as a fellow sonneteer and denizen of this great region.
Gorgeous prose and some inescapable beats of deep meaning in these, James.
"When it's river swelled the bodies couldn't be seen"...
Also, the beat about the choice to let the world peer in or go stir crazy...🙌 🔥💔
Great work!
